கடுங்கோன் பாண்டியன்

தமிழகத்தின் மீது சூறாவளி தாக்குதல்கள் நடத்தி வேங்கடம் முதல் குமரி வரை ஆக்கிரமித்து ஆட்சி புரிந்த களப்பிரர் என்பவர்களின் பிடியிலிருந்து தமிழகத்தை மீட்ட பெருமை கடுங்கோன் பாண்டியருக்கு உண்டு.

4-ம் நூற்றாண்டு முதல் 6-ம் நூற்றாண்டு வரை தமிழகம் முழுவதும் தடுமாறச் செய்த இக்களப்பிரர் கன்னட நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்தவர் எனத் தெரிகிறது களப்பிரரது கொடுமைகளிலிருந்து தமிழகத்தை மீட்ட பெருமை கடுங்கோன் பாண்டியருக்கு உரியது. அவர் 590-620ல் அரசாண்டார். அவர் காலம் பாண்டியர் புத்துயிர் பெற்றனர்.
